What did Santa bring you in the 1980s? I know there are some young 'uns out there who follow my blog that were still getting things in their stocking from Santa in the 80s. What were your favorite toys?
Since I was too old for most toys, I am pretty sure that through most of the 80s I was getting things like black rubber bracelets (aka Madonna)as stocking stuffers. I think once I may have gotten that white and black "CHOOSE LIFE" T-shirt inspired by WHAM. I got colored tights. I remember getting "Love's Baby Soft" and some "Jean Nate" after bath splash. There was lots of lipgloss. LOTS. I got a new marvel of technology one year - a disc camera. That was a very, very good Christmas. The camera, however, was not so good.
What did you get? Were you a teen, like me, or were you a little pipsqueak during our favorite decade? Were you playing with Smurf toys, or Rainbow Brite, or the 'real' original transformers?
Its funny how nostalgic the holidays make us. Is it just me, or do you run through all the past Christmases in your mind, recalling what you got, and how it made you feel? Tell me about your best 80s holiday memories.

Santa used to bring me Smurfs, Strawberry Shortcake Dolls, Barbies, and Wuzzles. :-)
I am feeling really old right now, Cora, because I don't even know what a Wuzzle is(hangs head in 80s shame)!
I think you are my new bestie!!
Oh, the 80's, it's like being wrapped in a warm blanket!
I remember Santa bringing me Mario Bros 2. I wanted it sooo bad & I knew that yr it was sold out everywhere. Santa really came through 4 me.
Hey An Authentic Life, so glad you are here. These days, though, I spend more time on Twitter: 80sMomKara
The 80s are special to me. Not saying they were the BEST of times on many counts, but they were the most memorable and important in shaping Genx.
sugarrrsmack, those are the memories that stick with us :)
She-ra, cabbage patch kids, rainbowbrite, huggabunch. boy now that I think about it, I had some really cool toys. 1980-1989 i was 2-12. I wanted to be Madonna and I had a mom who let me wear what ever I wanted. So lace gloves and rubber bracelets were definitely a part of my wardrobe.
My brother and I were happy when our parents got us Atari and some games for it. I liked the Avon Sweet Honesty perfume in a silver fawn bottle that my Aunt Sylvia got me. The best gifts were always the handmade ones from my Aunt Al and grandma, like pillows and a blanket. I did get 2 Care bears - grandma which I still have and Friend which I regret getting rid of. I got one like it on ebay but it's still not the same as having the one that I got back then.
A pair os skin tight black stirrup pants called The Pants Daddy Doesn't Want You To Wear, along with one of those oversized geometric print round bottomed shirts and a big wide black belt to wear with them.

IfiHadaHammer, I think you *may* be a little younger than me based on that list ;-)
LaraAnn - LOL at Sweet honesty! Wasn't that Avon? Avon was such a big thing back then!
Pussdaddy: LOL at the pants daddy does not want you to wear! I think we were dressed the same. I have photos of myself from a Power Station concert with the skinny pants, giant cotton buttondown shirt with some weird red and black pattern, fat low-slung belt, and fedora.
Well I was in my twenties, so lots of clothes (mom basically took me shopping and spoiled me rotten) tons of cologne...I was a cologne-aholic! (I finally settled down to one...we're happy together).
I remember getting a metallic Sony walkman auto reverse with a leather slip case. That puppy was the "DeLorean of all Walkmans.
Good times!
Bret - please tell me your scent is Drakkar Noir. Then I would know you are really 'trapped in the 80s'!
Lite Brite, Heart Family dolls, Wuzzles accessories, Poppits
woooohoo :) Oh and My Little Pony ftw!
