Nightmarish Monchichi
Okay. Call me crazy, but isn't this toy 'Monchichi' a bit nightmarish? I guess in the 80s I was too old for Monchichi so it didn't appeal to my sensibilities at the time. But the question is, who exactly DID this creepy toy appeal to? Maybe there are some 'trapped in the 80s' moms out there who are still in their twenties that can remember playing with this hideous thing. If you did, please leave comments below explaining one thing: WHY? Did the people marketing this hideousness think they were really 'onto something big'?? If I'm not mistaken, there was a whole line of all kinds of Monchichi stuff.
I can recall laughing my butt off at the commercials, wondering who in the world would play with these creepy little baby/monkey thingees. DID YOU?

I know, w. I remembered EVERY BIT of that commercial, including the narration. I think its because it played every commercial break in the 80's!
monchichis are awesome! I loved mine, but now that I think about it, I was about 4 when I first got him.
Yes I had one!And I loved him..I loved monkeys..I use to climb tree pretending I was one..and in Italy his name was Monciccí!
Well I am in my mid 30's, I played with Monchichi's. In fact, I would like to buy one for my baby nephew (we call him Monkey). I actually think the Monchichi's were very cute and I liked it even more when they came out with feline versions too. Just my two cents- and no, I am not stuck in the 80's.
I am 32 and loved monchichies. In fact I saw one in Hot Topic and immediately bought it. I was a monchichi for halloween as a kid. I think they are so cute. My kids now play with the toy.
